The mission of the Djerassi Resident Artists Program is to support and enhance the creativity of artists by providing uninterrupted time for work, reflection, and collegial interaction in a setting of great natural beauty, and to preserve the land on which the Program is situated.

Since this is my second time, I hit the ground running. It was like coming home to place where what I do is welcomed and nurtured. I love this place. The muse lives here and helps me see through my poems. I will always remember the artists I had the great fortune of meeting and knowing during the weeks we were together. I hope they realize how much their presence has affected my work here in a most profound way.

 2008-2009 Winter Artists-in-Residence

Winter residencies are extended to alumni of the Djerassi Program as a means to maintain an association with our artists and to support them with additional opportunities to concentrate on their creative projects. Alumni artists working in the disciplines of visual arts, media arts, choreography, music composition and literature are encouraged to apply for a winter residency. Applications from alumni who wish to collaborate with non-alumni artists are also welcome. The artists listed below will be in residence at our SMIP Ranch facilities during two separate periods: December 1 –19, 2008 and January 5 –February 20, 2009.
